About

Althea Farms

on a cattle ranch on Petit Jean Mountain with a recipe for holiday pecans developed by my grandmother. She grew up in Seattle and came to Arkansas via New York City. She and her husband built an incredible homestead and cattle ranch on Petit Jean Mountain in 1953 and she perfected the recipe here while her husband was governor. Every December my grandmother, then my mother, then I would make these special spicy pecans, and they became a part of our Christmas traditions.

In the early 90’s I started giving them as gifts and people were blown away by the awesome crunch and unique flavor profile. No one had tasted anything like them and the common refrain was - “you have to sell these!” Well here we are, back on Petit Jean Mountain making great snacks.

As our business has grown, we have refused to compromise on the quality of our ingredients. We live by the motto of “if we wouldn’t feed it to our family, we won’t feed it to you.” My focus on quality ingredients is a result of having learned how to cook around a variety of autoimmune diseases for my family. As a part of that, I became a big label reader. Over the years it has become a passion project for our family’s health - absolutely no gluten, no seed oils, no glyphosates, no genetically modified anything. We buy organic ingredients and spices even though organic pecans are not available in quantities (or qualities) sufficient to allow us to certify our seasoned pecans as organic. I feel so strongly about this that we go above and beyond to have our products independently lab tested to ensure our ingredients remain pure. Eating clean food is a journey and we will continuously work to find and source the best, cleanest ingredients we can find. We’re proud of how our snacks both taste great and are great for you.
